Students who register at Koç University are required to take the Placement Test for their English level to be determined. This exam is offered twice every day during registration week (between August 19 and August 23, 2019), first at 11.00 am and then at 2.00 pm. Results of this exam will start being announced on English Language Center’s website (http://elc.ku.edu.tr) on Wednesday August 21, 2019.

Based on the placement exam score, students will be placed in one of the four levels in the English Preparatory Program. Those students who receive a sufficiently high score will be eligibile to take the Institutional TOEFL which will be administered on Saturday August 24, 2019.

Please see below proficiency exam requirements which will exempt you from ELC study.

• Institutional TOEFL: 550/4 (Administered once a year in August or September)
• TOEFL IBT: 80/20 on the writing section (Accepted if it is taken at a state institution if not taken abroad) (valid for 2 years).
• YDS / E-YDS: 80 out of 100 (valid for 5 years).
• PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English): 60 out of 90. (Valid for 2 years)
• CAE: Grade of C (valid for 3 years).
